Original detail was what attracted us to this home the moment we laid eyes on it and we were certain that this detail would continue to feature strongly with the reconstruction. Much research, planning and selection has taken place over the last 10 months to ensure that period features were maintained and were sympathetically reinstated. Over time the builders have uncovered features that have deteriorated, the tin pressed ceiling was the latest find but the ability to have this repaired with modern technology is reassuring. It was a huge relief to see the kitchen island arrive on site and to have been made exactly as we had planned and that the wainscoting detailing along the hallway looked as good on the walls as it did on the plans after months of visualisation.
Ceiling battens in the new addition have been carried on throughout in order to create consistency and original architrave blocks have been replicated. The arrival of the new staircase and the large sliding doors destined for the rear of the house have made the last month the most exciting of all.
With the scaffolding and plastic cover completely removed we can now see exactly how she looks because up until now we've definitely had all our fingers and toes crossed !!
